How It Works

Getting up and running is simpler than you might think. We handle the technical side — you just tell us what you want to monitor.

Three steps to a calmer farm

No technical knowledge required on your end.

Tell us what you want to monitor

Get in touch and describe your setup — what you're trying to monitor, how spread out your property is, and whether you already have any LoRaWAN infrastructure. We'll recommend the right sensors and advise whether you need a gateway.

Buy your hardware outright

The sensors are yours to keep — no leasing, no lock-in contracts. We'll point you to the right hardware for your situation and provide clear guidance on installation. Most sensors are straightforward to physically mount.

We handle the rest

We configure the data pipeline, set up your dashboard, and connect your alert preferences. Once you're live, monitoring your property is as simple as opening a webpage on your phone. Ongoing cost: from $10 AUD per active device per month, with the dashboard and SMS alerts included.

What you get

An end-to-end platform — from the sensor in the paddock to the graph on your phone.

Live dashboards

Visualise measurements over time — tank levels, channel depths, rainfall, fence voltage, and more. Look at the last hour, or go back as far as your records go.

Configurable alerts

Set upper and lower thresholds per device. Get an SMS or email the moment a reading goes outside the range you care about — before small problems become big ones.

Asset tracking

Know where your equipment is, and get notified if it moves unexpectedly. Helpful for large properties and increasingly important given the rise in farm equipment theft.

Common questions

If your question isn't here, just get in touch.

What is LoRaWAN and why do you use it?

LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a wireless communication protocol designed for low-power sensors that need to transmit data over long distances. Unlike mobile data, it works reliably across most rural properties and doesn't depend on mobile tower coverage. The majority of our sensors connect via LoRaWAN, making it well suited to the Australian farming context where mobile coverage can be patchy or non-existent.

Do I need a LoRaWAN gateway?

Not necessarily. If there's already a LoRaWAN network in range of your property (including community or commercial networks), your sensors can connect through that. If not, we'll advise on adding a gateway as part of your setup. We'll let you know before you buy anything.

Do I need any technical knowledge to use it?

No. We handle the configuration, pipeline setup, and onboarding. Day-to-day use is just opening a web page on your phone or computer. If you can check your email, you can use CYF.

What devices does it work on?

CYF is a web application, so it works on any device with a modern browser — iPhone, Android, tablets, laptops, desktops. There's nothing to install. Most farmers use it on their phone.

What if I want to add more sensors later?

Easy. Just get in touch and we'll advise on the additional hardware and add it to your dashboard. You only pay for active devices, so there's no penalty for starting small and expanding later.

Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?

No. The monthly fee is per active device with no lock-in. If you decommission a sensor, you stop paying for it. The hardware is yours outright from day one.
